New details are starting to emerge about the 2015 Infiniti G-Series.
Speaking with Motor Trend, a source revealed the car will go on sale in the summer of 2014. It will reportedly be based on the same platform that underpins the next-generation Mercedes C-Class but have a 2-inch (51mm) longer wheelbase.
The car's front end styling will reportedly be influenced by the Etherea concept and have a "very bold, muscular stance."
Power could be provided by an upgraded petrol engine which is based on the VQ block. There's also word of a hybrid variant and a Mercedes-sourced 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel with more than 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS).
Besides talking about the G, the source revealed the company is developing a new twin-turbo 3.7-liter V6 engine that develops upwards of 530 hp (395 kW / 537 PS). It will reportedly debut in an upcoming IPL (Infiniti Performance Line) vehicle.
Lastly, the informant revealed the production version of the Etherea concept will be powered by a hybridized and supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This doesn't jive with previous reports, but the model is slated to ride on the Mercedes MFA platform and be built in Graz, Austria.
